Why does my hair get oily so fast?

Hair can get oily for several reasons, such as excessive hair washing, product build-up, or simply due to hormones, hair type, and genetics. Therefore, some can be controlled while others cannot. For example, if you wash your hair too often this can cause an over production of sebum on your scalp and greasy hair faster. Also using cheap grade shampoos and conditioners can leave an unwanted silicone coating on your hair, and cause hair to become greasier faster. Therefore, always opt for professional hair care ranges such as RPR and Salon Only to ensure your hair is cleansed and nourished correctly.

How to get rid of oily hair

The best way to get rid of oily hair is to start using products that have been specifically designed for this exact purpose. Shampoos such as SO Deep Shampoo, RPR De-Chlorinate My Hair or RPR My Clarifying Shampoo have been scientifically formulated to lift, detox, and remove unwanted grease from your hair, as well as product build-up, minerals, and chlorine. These shampoos are powerful yet gentle, and packed full of high-quality ingredients such as Lemon Aspen, Echinacea, and Gingko, to soothe, protect and refresh. They are Australian made and owned, vegan, cruelty free and paraben free.

Why does my hair get greasy after straightening it?

Straightening your hair will not increase your scalps oil production, however it may in fact drag the oils that were sitting on your scalp and roots down your hair. In some cases, making your hair feel greasier. Also, after you straighten your hair, it tends to sit closer to your scalp, sometimes giving the appearance of flatter, greasier hair. To counteract this, simple apply a spray of RPR Boost My Volume at the roots for an instant boost and lift.

How to stop greasy hair

To stop greasy hair, try:
1. Shampooing twice each time you wash. The first shampoo will remove any product, grease or oil build up, while the second shampoo will cleanse, hydrate, and nourish your locks. Leaving your hair clean and fresh.
2. Wash your hair less. If you are washing your hair too often you may be stripping too much of its natural oils causing excessive sebum production.
3. Apply conditioner sparingly and wash it out properly. When applying conditioner, less is more. Also focus on the mid to the ends of your hair instead of your roots.
